Cross
Timbers Hiking Trail. Located less than one mile from our ranch,
the trail was built in 1969 and runs west from Juniper Point some 14
miles along the southern shoreline. The trail is divided into segments
and well marked with mile-posts and other references. Impressive
vantage points overlook the lake and shoreline and the blackjack oak
woodland typifies the Cross Timbers environment. The trail's difficulty
is rated as moderate to easy. |

Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. Located on the Big Mineral Arm of Lake Texoma, the refuge was established in 1946 and covers 3,000 acres of marsh and water and 8,000 acres of upland and farmland. Sightseeing, nature study, birdwatching, and photography are year-round activities. Fall and winter months provide the best opportunity for seeing migrating ducks, geese, and pelicans. Excellent viewing is afforded along the main lakeshore. A 4-mile self-guided auto tour is located in the main management unit. Leaflets and roadside exhibits provide information on the area and the refuge programs. The Crow Hill Trail offers a close look at native prairie habitat for those who enjoy hiking. |
